Shannon, Samson, Alfred
Samson, Jean-Pierre
  • Samson's very first friend, and the one who made his raccoon buddy explore his orientation during their youth and adolescence.
  • A silent film buff, without whose knowledge of the silver screen (and several connections his family has) Sam would have never known of Ironstone, a long-unseen 1931 Canadian adventure movie shot on location in their native Dominica. (Sam's cousin Alfred knew about it thanks to one of his aunts marrying a relative of its socialite star, Agatha.)
  • His nickname, "Danny the Dog", is also the original overseas title of what became Unleashed (2005) in the U.S. He shares his real surname with its writer, Luc Besson.
  • Has relatives living in the Grenadian island of Carriacou, where they hold a regatta every summer.
  • The spaniel uses his favourite expression, "Aw, poodle!", whenever he gets frustrated or worried, or forgets something.
  • Daniel has a brown nose, black pupil, grey iris, and brown claws on his feet. He also sports long brown hair (with a red-and-black tuft at the front), golden earrings on his ears, nose, and tail, and a black hat to the point where some mistake him for a girl or a pirate--or both. This look always attracted hordes of local onlookers during his annual Carriacou vacations; on one occasion, he was even considered the spitting image of Captain Jack Sparrow. He has even earned the nickname of "Little Valentino" on account of these traits.
  • In secret, he also boasts a "knot" reaching up to seven inches.
