Notes
  • As with her ancestors, Marguerite sports brown fur, golden hair, a black mask, and gold-and-brown stripes on her tail.
  • Marguerite's parents, part of a prestigious Pointe-à-Pitre family called the Laviniers, arrived together in Dominica in May 1942 as Free French immigrant youth from their species' native Guadeloupe. The story of their fellow contemporaries—over 5,000 in number—is recounted in "Between Two Wars: The Free French", Honychurch (1995):171–72.
  • Cross of Lorraine As a tribute to her heritage, Marguerite adopted the Cross of Lorraine as her symbol in 2005.
