Notes | ||
The second-born of the Dominican Laviniers, whose ancestors hailed from Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe. From his primary-school days, Victor was prejudiced towards solenodons (or "armed snakes" as the epithet went) because of the venom they carried in their teeth. In the tentative first volume of Unspooled, his son Alfred's alliance with one of them, Maurice, is cause for concern for him and his wife. They eventually warm up to the duo once Alfred shows them how kind and altruistic creatures like him can be. |
