pasale ns, pasalo m, pasala f, pasalous(e/o/a) du, pasales/pasal(o/a)s pl 1 / 1b i [/pæ.sæl/; pa•sale (2 syll.)] [Adyghe пацэ (paace) ("animal fur"; "human hair")Wiktionary.]
- 1 : anthropomorph (an animal character with human characteristics)
- 2 : (Informal) anthro, furry
→ Refers to various characters created not only in the furry fandom, but by various other professional entities. In Tovasala, pasagule refers to the fandom itself; pasaŕtanule (anthropomorphics) is the associated field; and pasalide stands for "anthropomorphism". A paslène or pasaguale is a member thereof, and a pasiōle follows them but is otherwise not a participant. Some members dress up as their "fursonas" (pasalsèbe) in fursuits (paskrèye).
American animation historian Fred Patten researched and wrote about the fandom for several decades until his death in 2018.
Sites catering to furries include FurAffinity, Inkbunny, VCL, the WikiFur encyclopedia, and the Flayrah news portal. In-universe, this word's root blends with the name of the eponymous country to form Topasala—a long-running website catering to the local fandom (since mid-1995); the mascot of said site; and in turn the informal name of that fandom.
