This system shipped with S mode—and not the full Windows 11—meaning that users will have to opt out through the process we'll mention a little later, and unrecognised programs will fail to run. For example, when trying to run Command Prompt through Run (🪟 + R):

For security and performance, this version of Windows only runs Microsoft-verified apps
This helps protect your PC and keep it running smoothly.

C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe

Still want to run this unverified app?

"See how" takes users to a Microsoft Store splash page entitled "Switch out of S mode":

You may want to think twice about switching out of S mode. Especially if performance and peace of mind are your top priorities. S mode was designed for security, speed, and simplicity—offering thousands of Microsoft-verified apps and Microsoft Edge, the fast and safe web browser. Please note, you will not be able to return to S mode once you’ve switched.

Your use of this new software is subject to the terms of your original Windows Operating System License Agreement.

TL/DR: You get what you paid for—caveat emptor. But with a Windows 10 key up for grabs in the next several hours, the point might as well be moot.

Still, Christmas came pretty early for yours truly. (Welcome to December, readers!)

On a related note: If the former HP can handle a Linux OS installation in place of W10, then so much the better. No system updates to speak of/put up with either, hopefully. (And as long as it can still work battery-charged, even...)

Once again, another round of Shimajiro-tachi—this time focusing on their live shows in their native Japan. Between those, the current WOW! era, the still-concurrent Kodomo Challenge ephemera, and over 30 years of experience and adventure, they hardly seem to break a sweat.

As a reminder, the gang appears in a series of fully computer-animated shorts and music videos separate from the WOW! canon; below is a scene with chef Mimi-Lynne.

As we conclude from our brand-new Inspiron 3511: Wouldn't be surprised if that's an activity book.

Due to interference between MediaWiki:Edittools and the Form-namespace infrastructure as of late (T9882—reported to both Yaron Koren and Phabricator; further investigation/diagnosis pending), recent editions of FTA have been composed on the traditional MW editbox until further notice. Once this bug is resolved, I'll remind you right here.

And that wraps it up right here, folks; be there soon as I take care of the agenda and the maps, see about my side of an art trade, and try to get my PayPal credentials going—if only to cut as many ties with them as I can per my superior's insistence. Until next we meet, take care, stay safe/connected, keep exploring, tapal, see you in the bestsellers, we'll meet you back home...and watch your tails.

P.S. I'm finally getting my shots soon—a year late. See you after my mandatory rest.

Remembering Elizabeth II; in solidarity with those affected by Ian and Nicole.

To our next ten years...

Notes

  1. ^ The portion below this line, "Microsoft Software License Terms", only returns an empty dialog box with "OK".
  2. ^ This requires a Microsoft account and Internet connection.
  3. ^ Choosing this option leads to a prompt saying, "Did you mean to switch apps? / 'Microsoft Store' is trying to open 'Microsoft Store'." Selecting "Yes" below that leads to the MS Store's own app listing; selecting "No" lets the user stay on the S mode primer.
